Welcome to the thoughtfully entitled 'Song A Week' project, where I'll be releasing one new song every Friday for one year. The concept is fairly simple and starts Friday 1st January 2010 and will continue throughout the year until we have a grand total of 52 songs.
It might not always be pretty but hey ho, you need to do something with your time on this planet, also it gives me an incentive to do something with the large quantities of songs I have sitting around in various stages of completion. Oh yeah, all the songs are free, just like all the other releases here at Aidy.com, so enjoy!!
Song A Week 36 - Broken Record
Friday, 03 September 2010 00:00
We're probably all aware of the popular phrase that incorporates the words broken and record, and if you've been paying attention you'll know that some of my songs contain random scratch lyrics that don't mean anything! Which is this??
Self imposed jam session, where I just kept playing guitar and bass parts etc to a fairly slow drum beat and kept building. I also had a book with the word monochrome written on the cover, which was sitting on my desk whilst I wrote the lyrics.
An experimention on the drumming front, distorted guitars and quirky lyrics about fictional people. I've never had a friend with a desire to kill the queen, but if I did, it'd probably end up in a song.
Merging the narrative style of Blur's Parklife with the a sc-fi theme! This started off as a serious song but soon started heading into a novelty direction when I started experimenting with some spoken verses.
Strange one this, the shortest track so far, I loved the bass line, and didn't know what to do lyrically, and re-used some lyrics from Hurt Me Bitch, which seemed to go pretty well. Hence the title.
Something kind of new here, I wrote and recorded the track and then got someone else to sing the lyrics, for a nice change of pace. This track features Sharon Baggs on vocals.
